One of the best (and worst) things about this time of year is how much time we get to spend with our families! If watching TV shows like Arrested Development and The Simpsons remind you of your family, here are some more great movies to help you appreciate your own unique situation.
Garrett Hedlund is not a well known actor, but I personally loved him in FOUR BROTHERS! He is one of the main characters in TRON: Legacy, playing Sam Flynn, who is haunted by the disappearance of his father Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), a man who was once known as the worlds leading video-game developer. While investigating the disappearance, Sam finds himself pulled into a world filled with gladiatorial programs. I'm kinda excited to see this one. I never saw the first one back in the 80's, but this looks good.
Funnyman Leslie Nielsen passed away on November 28 saddening the comedy world. In addition to starring in TV shows like Route 66 and Police Squad, Mr. Nielsen has appeared in over 200 films during his long and illustrious career.

Melody Gardot is a jazz singer and an amazing, inspirational person that I am thankful for learning about at the library! Her story is not without tragedy. At the age of 19, she was hit by a car and as a result of extensive damage ended up with severe neurological complications that she continues to deal with to this day. Using music as a form of therapy, she has risen to be one of the most enticing jazz singers I have ever heard.
Gardot's first album, Worrisome Heart came out in 2008. In 2009, she released My One and Only Thrill. Ms Gardot continues to advocate for music therapy and inspire those that face overwhelming obstacles.
Whether you are an expert or an amateur at Do-It-Yourself enterprises, there are many excellent books to help you create new projects or finish old ones. Making things by hand reflects skills of days gone by, reveals a more self-reliant lifestyle and gives additional significance to the finished product.
While Chris Loffelmacher attends the International Cultural Programming Symposium in Cleveland, his friend, Phoebe Reese (entertainer, party hostess and self-proclaimed celebrity), will be filling in and sending you up-to-the-minute blogs on what's happening at Fresh City Life:
Hello My Little Pumpkins!
I'm commandeering Chris' blog for a couple weeks while he takes in all the cultural offerings in Cleveland. Chris and I go way back, we grew up together in North Dakota and then met again years later while my star was rising in San Francisco. He was a clerk in a gift shop -- and though we were an unlikely pair, we became fast friends. My star never stopped rising...and now I believe Chris is a clerk of some kind at the library...so we've both come a long way.
