Bikes, Cooking, and the Civil War

Do you need something exciting to do this weekend? Join Fresh City Life My Branch on this upcoming autumnal weekend. On Saturday we have several programs to choose from. Whether you need help understanding the basics of bicycle care, a lesson in cooking with delicious whole grains, or want to watch a Civil War movie, we have something for you this weekend!

On Saturday, October 20th there are several programs you can attend. Join us at one of the following:

10am at Schlessman: The ABCs of Bicycle Care -- Peter Roper of the Denver Bicycle Cafe will cover all the basics you need to know to maintain your bike, including air, brakes, chain, fixing and cleaning your bike, and the tools and parts you need. Special emphasis on getting your bike ready for winter riding, and what you need to know to keep on cycling through all seasons!

2pm at Smiley: Cooking with Whole Grains -- Do you keep hearing how great it is to eat whole grains on the news (or from your doctor), but don't know where to start? Monica Kadillak will share some common (bulgar, barley) and not so common (quinoa, chia seeds) whole grains and give you a variety of recipes to add these healthy and tasty foods to your cooking arsenal! Recipes and samples included.

2pm at Ross-University Hills: View movies related to the reading and discussion series Making Sense of the American Civil War. October 20: Ken Burns' The Civil War

On Sunday, October 21st at 2pm join us at the Schlessman Family Branch for A Day in the Life of Wild B.I.R.D. Wild B.I.R.D. is a local organization that provides comprehensive rehabilitation to sick, injured, or abandoned birds, and educates the public about bird welfare and conservation. Learn what they do, what it takes to rehabilitate a bird, and why their mission is so important to our environment. Their stories will inspire you!

Hope to see you soon!
