What is the Blue Spruce Award? Colorado is unique in that our young adult book award is nominated and voted on ONLY by teens! This book award is a true reflection of what middle and high school students throughout Colorado are reading and loving!

Public and school libraries throughout the state send in their votes, along with nominations for next year's award, every January. What did teens who voted through the Denver Public Library pick as their winner?

Maximum Ride: Fang, James Patterson

Runner up:

Fire, Kristin Cashore

The Blue Spruce nominees and winners reflect the diversity of the teens of Colorado, with a range of reading levels, subject matter, genres, and often a combination of fiction and nonfiction titles being nominated. See the 2013 nominees on DPL's Blue Spruce page (and remember, you need to read at least 3 of the nominees to vote, so start reading now!).
