"Personal Geographies" is an exhibit of handmade, mixed media maps by Jill K. Berry and other artists. The show is in the Western History and Genealogy department, on Level 5 of the Central Library through March 31, 2012.

Esta exhibición estará abierta al público durante las horas hábiles de la Biblioteca Central. "Geografías personales" es una exhibición de mapas hechos a mano usando técnicas mixtas por Jill K. Berry y otros artistas. Las obras en esta exhibición se muestran en el departamento de la Historia del Oeste y de Genealogía ubicado en el 5º piso de la Biblioteca Central hasta el 31 de marzo, 2012.

Workshop: The Fundamentals of Mapmaking for Future Explorers
Saturday, March 10, 2-4 p.m.
Central Library, Gates Reading Room, Level 5
Find out how to create a simple map while incorporating the traditional cartographic elements; neat lines, cartouches, legends, compass roses and more. Your map will be of a memory or a dream, real or imagined territory. When it is finished, we will fold it into a small pop-up map fold so you can fit it in your pocket.

Come along to hear about the maps from the book Personal Geographies: Explorations in Mixed-Media Mapmaking with the author Jill K. Berry. There are maps from six countries that represent the personal journeys of the artist that span the globe and will certainly expand your mind about maps and mapmaking.
