There are still a few spots left in our upcoming Fresh City Life My Branch Mobiles for Fun and Learn to Knit classes! What are you waiting for--sign up today!

In Mobiles for Fun, you'll create a piece of moving sculpture from found materials. The parts will move in various directions setting up rhythms of motion or reverse motion. Materials could include: metal, plastic, wood, paper, found objects, and wire. If you have wire cutters and/or needle nose pliers, bring them along, but we'll have tools for you to use. Bring any objects that you want to incorporate into your mobile, too! Presented by artist Karole Sharpe. 2 dates to choose from: Sunday, June 19 at 2:00 p.m.

Colorado Authors Series Presents: Michael Sabbeth

The Fresh City Life My Branch Colorado Authors Series presents Michael Sabbeth on Sunday, June 5 at 2:00 p.m at Schlessman.

Mr. Sabbeth is a practicing lawyer who has taught classes on moral reasoning in Denver area public and private schools for twenty years. His book, The Good, the Bad, and the Difference: How to Talk with Children About Values, is a guide for parents and for other people working with children on how to talk with children about ethics and values and how to teach moral reasoning. Books will be available for sale.

Join us for Summer Salads at the Ross-Cherry Creek Branch on Tuesday, May 24 at 6:30 p.m. or at the Smiley Branch on Wednesday, June 1 at 6:30 p.m. You'll learn how to introduce more vegetables into your diet with these creative salads. Your kids will love them, and they'll fill up even the hungriest eater in your family!

Colorado Author Carol Berg at Schlessman This Sunday!

The Fresh City Life My Branch Colorado Authors Series presents Carol Berg at Schlessman on Sunday, May 22, at 2:00 p.m.

Carol Berg is a former software engineer who can't quite believe her own story. Since her 2000 debut, she's been flown to Israel, taught writing in the U.S., Canada, and Scotland, and answered mail from New Zealand, Kuwait, the slopes of Denali, and beneath the Mediterranean Sea.

Acrylic Painting with My Art Workshop--Sign Up Today!

There are still a few spaces left in the Fresh City Life My Branch Beginning Acrylic Painting Class with My Art Workshop! The class is on Saturday, May 21 at 11:00 a.m. at the Schlessman Family Branch. Reserve your space today: 720-865-0000.

In this class, you'll learn the basics of acrylic canvas painting with step-by-step artist led instruction. No prior painting experience is necessary to create this blowing tree masterpiece. All supplies and instructions included!

James Beard Book Awards Announced

The 2011 James Beard Book Awards were recently announced. You may know of the James Beard Awards for chefs. While often those award winners are far away (with restaurants hard to get reservations at!), many of the cookbook award winners are available in the library.
