Plan Your New Year's Resolution!

New Year's Resolutions

New Year's is just around the corner, are you prepared for your New Year's Resolution? Take a look at some places on the web to help you keep some common resolutions, including: Get Into Shape, Quit Smoking, Get a New Job, Learn a Language and Save $$$.

Getting in shape seems to be the most sought after goal of New Year's resolutions.  The only problem is, it's really hard to get started (and we don't want to embarrass ourselves trying new things in a strange gym). So what can we do to get our motivation up and our weight down?
Where can I go to workout? Check out Denver Rec Centers! They are a cheaper option to the larger national gyms.

What eReader is Right for You?

There are so many eReaders on the market, it can be confusing trying to figure out which one is the right one for you. One big question I hear from Denver Public Library patrons all the time is, “which one works with the materials I can download from your website?” The answer is most of them should work, some better than others. I have had the opportunity to play with a few of the commonly used eReaders, and here is what I see as the pros and cons to each:

Kindle – The Kindle only recently started working with the library’s downloadable eBooks, but it is probably the easiest device to use. All other eReaders require a separate software to be installed on your computer before you can transfer a title to your device. With the Kindle, it’s all done wirelessly.

Upload Files from a Flashdrive to Google Docs

Blog image

If you use the public PCs in the Library, you have probably noticed that there is no Word Processing program on those computers.  If you want to be able to print and edit the documents you carry around with you on your flashdrive, this is a simple tutorial on how to access them.

Once someone has created a Google account (Gmail, Google Docs, Google calendar, any of it will be the same username), they have access to the Google Docs application.  From the home screen, there is a side bar of options, above which there are two buttons: Create New and Upload.  Click on Upload.

You will be taken to a screen where you can select files to upload into your Google Docs folder.  Click on the “Select files to upload” link in the center of the page.

Eddie Izzard - Dress To Kill

Blog image

Dress to Kill may be the single best reason to live.  If you have to go thru all the stupid hard stuff in life, it is worth setting aside some time to enjoy the ridiculous and absurd.  Eddie Izzard is the master of making the absurd stand out in the most reasonable ways.

Confused, just watch this video from his "Glorious" tour to understand the brilliance of his comedy.  (Warning, while gut bustingly hilarious, this video does contain some inappropriate language.)
