Invented in China, but popularized by Johannes Gutenberg in 1440, moveable type was like the internet for the 15th century, allowing widespread reproduction of printed materials like books, announcements, and advertising. Today, it is taking shape in a printer with a mobile letterpress studio traveling cross country showing the art of letterpress printing. Join us on March 16, 2013 at Ross-Barnum (from 10-12am) and Woodbury (from 2-4pm) branch libraries to learn more about the tradition and craft of printing presented by Kyle Durrie and take home a print or two afterward!
Bring your lunch and we'll bring the poetry! Join us for live poetry readings by featured poets including Arturo Garcia, Eduardo Gabrieloff, Steve Smallwood, Gillian Edwards, Mario Spassov, Tameca L. Coleman and Juan Manuel Patraca. Drop in over lunch and stay as long as you like.
