Your Words Shape Your World

Molina Speaks photographed by Ric Urritia

Critically acclaimed Colorado poet and rapper, Molina Speaks, brings his spirited voice to Other Places, Other Voices -- a community workshop exploring spoken word poetry focusing on discrimination and human rights.

In collaboration with the Mizel Museum, Fresh City Life is hosting Denver's most audacious spoken word artist -- Molina Speaks. One of his recent projects is Bronze Future: Letters for 2045 -- a spoken word video chapbook – a digital diary to the future.  This work is the first of its kind.

Madame Defarge: From French Revolution to Knitting Evolution

Film still of women knitting while watching the beheadings of the revolution.

Perhaps one of Dickens's most notorious and intense characters, Madame Defarge makes her knitting count.

Madame Therese Defarge (A Tale of Two Cities) knits her vengeance into her knitting; and for good measure, she knits the names of the victims of the guillotine right into her knitting as well. This all happens while she watches the beheadings of the French Revolution.
