Hope you like my new publicity photos! Chris is still in Cleveland, and I'm breathlessly putting together an amazing show for you. Mare Trevathan, Melanie Owen Padilla and GerRee Hinshaw are pouring out their hearts and souls for this extravaganza and it's all to benefit Fresh City Life. Chris tells me via Cleveland that Fresh City Life puts on a variety of cultural events for the citizens of Denver, the great majority of which are free! That's a better deal than universal healthcare!

Felted Ornament

Homemade holidays are the best! Join us on Wednesday, December 1, at 6:30 p.m. at the Smiley Branch Library to make a fun ornament to add joy and whimsy to your celebrations. Class size is limited, be sure to reserve your spot by calling 720-865-0260.

 

Winter Wonderland Building Contest

Are you a master of Legos or other building blocks? Show us your creativity with your unique creation on the theme “Winter Wonderland.” There will be winners and prizes in kid, teen, and adult categories. Drop off your creation between Saturday, November 27 and Thursday, December 2 at the Schlessman Family Branch Library.

Join us for the judging on Saturday, December 4 at 10 a.m. at the Schlessman Family Branch Library!

4th Annual Denver Plein Air Exhibition
November 10 - December 31, 2010
Central Library, Vida Ellison Gallery - Level 7
Presented by the Golden Triangle Museum District

During the month of August and September, more than 100 artists painted in Denver's beautiful Golden Triangle and Downtown areas. Three hundred pieces were submitted for juried competition and 120 were selected by the judges for an exhibition, which will be on display at the Denver Public Library from November 10 to December 31, 2010.

No registration required. The class is on a first come, first serve basis. Seating is limited, please arrive early.

AARP Driver’s Safety Class

This class is open to drivers of all ages! Those 55 and older that successfully complete this two-day course may be eligible to receive a discount on auto insurance. Join us on Monday, November 22 and Tuesday, November 23, from 1-5 p.m. at the Bear Valley Branch Library.

The cost of the course is $12 for AARP members or $14 for non-members.

Bonfils Blood Drive

Give the gift of life - donate blood. Each week, Bonfils Blood Center needs more than 4,000 donors to meet the needs of our community and to be prepared in case of an emergency. Friday, November 19, 1:00-6:30 p.m at the Bear Valley Branch Library.

It's a great time of year to give! According to the American Medical Association, giving blood is good for you too! To schedule an appointment, please call (303) 363-2300 or visit their website.

CHILDREN'S BOOK AUTHOR AND ILLUSTRATOR ROSS MacDONALD

The Denver Public Library presents children's book author and illustrator Ross MacDonald. Tuesday, November 16, 6:30 p.m. at Park Hill Branch Library.

Free and open to the public. No reservations required, but space is limited. Adults and children welcome. If you wish to have a book autographed by Mr. MacDonald, please bring in your personal copy. There will be no books available for purchase.
