The evening’s special guest will be Erin Goseer Mitchell, a celebrated author whose compelling book, Born Colored, Life before Bloody Sunday, delivers poignant insights about her life as a child growing up in the segregated south before the Civil Rights Movement. Author will be selling copies of her book.

One of the powerful, new voices in transgender literature, Imogen Binnie is a writer to watch. She'll be visiting Denver Public Library for an author talk and book signing this August. Nevada, Binnie's first novel, is the darkly comedic story of Maria Griffiths, a young trans woman living in New York City and trying to stay true to her punk values while working retail. When she finds out her girlfriend has lied to her, the world she thought she’d carefully built for herself begins to unravel, and Maria sets out on a journey that will most certainly change her forever.

Join Ted Engelmann, an American War veteran, as he tells the story of how he returned two small diaries to the family of a North Vietnamese woman doctor, who died in South Viet Nam. Engelmann also shares personal slides during the presentation.
