Ted Conover named winner of 2011 Evil Companions Literary Award

Ted Conover

Enjoy martinis, merrymaking and spirited conversation at the 2011 Evil Companions Literary Awards, set for Thursday, April 14 at the Oxford Hotel.

This year's award goes to Ted Conover, a beloved Denver native, nationally acclaimed author, and a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. His works cover a vast array of subjects, from the rarefied air of Aspen, to riding the rails with hoboes in titles such as The Routes of Man, Newjack, Coyotes, Whiteout, and Rolling Nowhere.

Featuring signature martinis, live music and a scrumptious buffet, and benefiting the Denver Public Library, Evil Companions is a literary event not to be missed. For tickets, visit www.dplfriends.org or call 720-865-2050.

Dewey After Hours - Name that Martini

Dewey After Hours

Join us on the rooftop of the Art Museum Residences for an open air, big sky Dewey After Hours and help select the signature cocktail for the Denver Public Library's Booklovers Ball. Enjoy the amazing view of downtown Denver as the sun sets and you sip, nibble and schmooze.

We'll be sampling martinis and appetizers and voting for the most tasty and delicious drink. The winning drink will be served at the 13th Annual Booklovers Ball. Beer, wine and soft drinks will also be served. Pinnacle Vodka is donating both a regular vodka and a special secret ingredient vodka to inspire the mixologists.

Bring your creative energies and name that drink! The originator of the winning name will be awarded a free ticket to the Booklovers Ball on October 9. The theme this year is "Explore."
