Sandra Wong and Greg Harris come together in a dynamic combination of nyckelharpa/fiddle and vibraphone/piano/ghanian gyil/world hand percussion to explore music from all corners of the globe, including their own compositions.
Reaching into their individual roots of Classical, African, Bluegrass, Jazz, Scandinavian, Middle-eastern, Old-time American music and more, their arrangements honor each tradition while moving into new, unchartered territory. Sandra and Greg create a musical playground for everyone (both musicians and listeners) to explore, play, stretch, and grow in a joyful space.
Musicians Joseph Lukasik and Eyal Rivlin explore the Yiddish folk music that became an important form of expression for Jewish immigrants coming to the United States from 1880 through the 1920s. The sound of Klezmer music is meant to mimic human vocalizations from talking and laughing to mournful crying. It’s evocative of Old World celebrations and a treat to hear.

Ever panic when you see a pattern begin with "Using a provisional cast on..." — or one that ends with "bind off loosely in rib" and wonder why they are asking for such specific instructions? Then after struggling to teach yourself a new cast on or bind off, you just give up and do it the one way you know for certain? This workshop will shed some light on when to use which cast on for certain projects and will explore the difference between aesthetic cast ons and functional ones. Plus, we'll make some great little one-hour projects to practice these techniques!
