The Joy Luck Club, 1993
Directed by Wayne Wang. Starring Tamlyn Tomita, Rosalind Chao, Kieu Chinh
The intertwined lives of the women of four families spanning multiple generations is told in dramatic vignettes that move through time and from woman to woman, mother to daughter. Based on Amy Tan’s spectacular book of the same name, The Joy Luck Club has inspiration, humor and even some tears. It’s a joyful and complicated story – worth watching and even re-watching.
