Join Fresh City Life for an extraordinary night at the movies. New York author, hostess and trendsetter, Brini Maxwell brings her spin to our showing of the outrageous 1968 Jane Fonda confection, Barbarella, directed by Roger Vadim. The tagline for this film claims that Barbarella is a woman who makes Science Fiction something else," and we decided this film needed a hostess who is something else, too. Style maven Brini Maxwell will be on hand to talk us through Jane Fonda's epic, futuristic turn. Barabarella, Jane and Brini. Hmmm. If our mission is to make a wing-dinger…mission accomplished.

Denver's exciting and diverse female singers come together for this night celebrating the fun, sexy and double-entendred music of the American songbook. Denver Public Library’s Fresh City Life plays host to this special event that highlights fine music and Denver’s most spectacular voices. When you hear Rosemary Clooney singing Too Old to Cut the Mustard and Mae West crooning A Guy What Takes His Time, you know both these ladies are telling two stories: the catchy song you’re listening to and the read-between-the-lines lyrics that might get you banned in Boston.

When George Harrison and The Beatles befriended Ravi Shankar, the traditional instrument of classical Indian music, the sitar, was embraced by American audiences. It is often heard in world music; its sympathetic tones marrying well with a wide range of musical genres. Chris ‘Citrus’ Sauthoff brings his signature style to the sitar, creating music that has been described as citradelic. Fresh City Life is thrilled to host Citrus for this concert highlighting the poetic and lyrical music of the sitar.

1:30 pm - 4:30 pm
B2 Conference Center

From the National Gallery website: "During the last fifteen years of his life, Henri Matisse developed his final artistic triumph by ‘cutting into color.’ The drama, scale, and innovation of Matisse's rare and fragile papiers coupes (paper cutouts) remain without precedent or parallel. His technique involved the freehand cutting of colored papers into beautiful shapes, which he then pinned loosely to the white studio walls, later adjusting, recutting, combining, and recombining them to his satisfaction.
