There hasn’t been a British television show like Downton Abbey since the 1970s series Upstairs, Downstairs. Both are similar in their depiction of the chasm between the ruling class and the servant class. And both inspired contemporary fashion trends. Our Downton workshop focuses on a stunning cloche hat with a low brim that distinctively frames the face. Along with this accessory, students will create a neck shawl that can be worn as an adornment or as a soft, warm scarf in cooler weather. Both are timeless pieces for autumn dressing. No beginning students please. Knitters should have basic knitting skills for this workshop; prerequisites are casting on, binding off, knit stitch, purl stitch, inc and dec. Materials list will be provided with registration confirmation. Please register online or call 720-865-1206.

Temari is a Japanese symbol for perfection. A temari ball given to someone represents a gift of joy and happiness. Though in their history, they were thought to have been created as toys for children, hence their name among old-timers: mother’s love ball – at some point later the craft of making them became an art form, and women of the imperial courts competed amongst themselves to create the most beautiful, most perfect version. They are exquisite. Learn the artisan method of temari balls with our expert teacher Ann Myhre. No requisite fiber skills required. Materials fee for this class will be $25, all materials provided to make one ball. Registration is required. Please register online or call 720-865-1206.
