On This Day in History - Disco Dies

Blog image

July 12, 1979 - The infamous "Disco Demolition" took place in Chicago's Comiskey Park. This stunt, blowing up a dumpster full of disco records, turned into a mass riot which resulted in many injuries and arrests. Organizers failed to recognize the appeal of the event, and were swarmed with as many as 80,000 people screaming and hurling their records!

But could Disco ever really die?
