Event Details

An evening for book lovers! We'll talk books with James Mustich, author of 1,000 Books to Read Before You Die, the compulsively readable, entertaining and surprising book that celebrates the greatest books of all time, from Harold and the Purple Crayon to the works of Shakespeare to sci-fi classics like Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? There’s something for every reader. Each of our five local luminaries will battle to advocate for their favorite books, vying for the hearts and minds of the audience members (you!). Attendees will then vote to name the champion. Our literary gladiators include author Dr. Elizabeth Renee Fajardo (MSU Denver), Denver City Librarian Michelle Jeske, author Adrian Miller, Colorado Governor Jared Polis, and author Manuel Ramos. A few lucky audience members will even have the chance to win book-themed door prizes!

Purchase Leven Deli for dinner to accompany your Battle viewing -  check out the attached menu. 5% of proceeds will be donated back to the Denver Public Library Friends Foundation. Use promo code 1000books. Signature cocktails "The Cozy Corner" and "Late Fee" will be available for purchase as well.

Check out the BookBar website to purchase books.

Registration required below. This event will be hosted on Zoom, and you'll receive an email the day before the event with the link to join. You can download Zoom ahead of time at https://zoom.us/download
