Family Fun Days / Día del Niño
The Denver Public Library will be launching the first in a series of “Family Fun Days” presented by Mountain States Toyota. This free event will be held at the Central Library in conjunction with the Día del Niño celebration and will include family crafts and book giveaways.
Each year, the Denver Public Library joins the Denver Art Museum, Byers- Evans House, Clyfford Still Museum and History Colorado to celebrate the traditional Latin American holiday Día del Niño. Hundreds of Denver families enjoy hands-on art activities, storytelling and live dance and music performances throughout the day. Introduced in Mexico in 1924, Día del Niño is now celebrated in more than 120 countries as a way to recognize the important role of children in the community and to promote a sense of understanding among young people of all nations.
Live music and cultural dance demonstrations take place on Acoma Plaza outside the Central Library. Inside the Library, children are invited to create their own autobiography picture book to take home. Each child who visits the craft area will also receive a free bilingual book as a gift from Mountain States Toyota.
All events are 12 noon - 4 p.m. at the Central Library. Free and open to the public!
