Bus Stop, 1956
Directed by Joshua Logan. Starring Marilyn Monroe, Don Murray. Arguably Marilyn Monroe’s most refined cinema moment, she is fresh from her training in New York at Lee Strasberg’s Actors Studio and brings her newfound joy of the craft to this funny, eccentric love story. Monroe plays a world-weary saloon singer who’s grown a little long in the tooth. Murray helms the role of the exuberant, inexperienced and all-too-young cowboy who decides to win her heart. Will Marilyn and this film take the Dueling Divas crown? Find out on 10/28. 96 minutes. Not rated.

OR

Cat On a Hot Tin Roof, 1958
Directed by Richard Brooks. Starring Elizabeth Taylor, Paul Newman, Burl Ives. Based on the play by Tennessee Williams, this gripping story about family dynamics, marital betrayal and mendacity plays host to one of Taylor’s most riveting portrayals – Maggie the Cat. She and Paul Newman are the sexiest married couple in cinema history – but still have ignition issues with their marital bliss. And as Big Mama tells Maggie, “When things go wrong in a marriage, they go wrong right here.” (as she pats the bed in Maggie’s room). This makes Maggie – well – as nervous as a cat on a hot tin roof. Will Elizabeth Taylor as Maggie the Cat save her marriage and snatch the Dueling Divas crown from Ms. Monroe? 10/28 will tell the tale. 108 minutes. Not rated.
