You are invited to learn about and celebrate Kwanzaa. Come and watch a performance and after kids will make a Kwanzaa Kinara.
The word "Kwanzaa" comes from the Swahili phrase "matunda ya kwanza," meaning "first fruits." Kwanzaa begins on December 26 and ends with a communal feast called the Karamu on January 1.
Kwanzaa is a seven-day holiday that celebrates Family, Community and Culture. The seven days of Kwanzaa match the seven principles celebrated.
Friday, December 27, 2013 we will explore the principle ~ Kujichagulia (Self-Determination) To define ourselves, name ourselves, create for ourselves and speak for ourselves.
