The Ludlow Massacre, Poetry and History: A special National Poetry Month reading with Colorado Poet Laureate David Mason
David Mason was nominated as Colorado's poet laureate in 2010, one of only six poets to fill this position Mason is nearly done with his four year stint. A writer and professor out of Colorado Springs, Mason's books of poems include The Buried Houses (winner of the Nicholas Roerich Poetry Prize), The Country I Remember (winner of the Alice Fay Di Castagnola Award), and Arrivals. His verse novel, Ludlow, was published on 2007, and named best poetry book of the year by the Contemporary Poetry Review and the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. In honor of the 100 year anniversary of the Ludlow massacre, come spend an afternoon listening to Mr. Mason read selections of his works and stay for a short Q&A.
