Schlessman Family Branch

Good News Story

Customer Donates Quilt

When Nancy Neiro came to an event at the Schlessman Family Branch last year, one of the items she picked up was our Wish List, a list of items that we wished we had but have no funds for. Neiro has been a quilter for over 20 years, and immediately decided she could help us with our "quilts for storytime" need. She spoke with Jenny LaPerriere, our senior librarian, that evening, and told us that we would soon have a handmade quilt for our storytime children to sit on. Neiro presented the quilt to Schlessman on its second birthday, and it was immediately put to use in our popular Book Babies program. The quilt is a 9-patch design, made with scraps of 19th century fabric reproductions. Neiro encourages other Denver area quilters to think about contributing their next project to their local Denver Public Library Branch. We know that many children and families will enjoy this quilt in the years to come!
