Frequently Asked Questions

Computer Questions

Can I print from the computer? Where is the printer?
You can print off the Internet and pick up prints at the circulation desk. The cost is .10/page.

Can I do word processing?
The computers at Schlessman do not have word processing capabilities. The Library Lab at the Central Library downtown can accommodate your word processing needs, or, if you are doing a resume, the Stapleton Workforce Center at 34th and Quebec can help you.

How do I get on the computers?
We have 41 computers at Schlessman with full Internet access. The computers are first come, first served. A library card is not required for access. Some of the computers have a 20-minute limit. These are clearly labeled. Please allow children first use of the computers in the children's area.

Where?

Where are the books on tape?
In the far back corner, beyond the new books section. Books on cassette and books on CD are mixed in together.

Where are the new books?
NEW books are on the 3 tables running down the center of the library and on 2 tables and on shelves in the far left corner. The tables house books in our Featured Title collection, which includes multiple copies of the newest books by your favorite authors for your browsing convenience.

Where are the magazines/newspapers?
These materials are to the left if you walk straight back beyond the display tables. More magazines are right around the corner from the row that you reach first.

Where are the reference books?
Our reference collection is interfiled with the rest of our non-fiction; reference books can be identified by the red REF sticker on the spine. These materials are for library use only. We also have a limited number of ready reference materials available behind the reference desk, including Consumer Reports. If you need to use any of these materials, just ask!

Where can I get a new or replacement library card?
At the circulation desk.

Where can I turn in items?
Book/media return slots are located outside to the right of the doors and inside to the right immediately after you come through the doors. You can also return items to any of our 22 branches or the Central Library.

Where do I place a hold?
You can place holds yourself via the library's Web site, or a librarian at the reference desk (the desk to your left as you come through the doors) would be happy to help you, either in person or via telephone.

Where is the copy machine?
To the right of the reference desk.

Where are the adult restrooms?
Upstairs, in the middle of the hallway.

Is there a pencil/scratch paper that I can use?
These items are located on the far right side of the reference desk and at the copy machine.

What's on the second floor?
Adult restrooms and meeting rooms are upstairs. There are no materials or computers there.
