Volunteer with children

Reading aloud to children stimulates imagination, creativity and curiosity, expands their experience of the world and develops a love of books and literature. Six pre-reading skills incorporated into the storytimes provide the necessary foundation for them to become readers.

You can help the children in your community by becoming a Read-Aloud Volunteer! The Denver Public Library is looking for volunteers to read stories once a week to economically at-risk children in the Denver area. Bilingual volunteers are especially needed.

Visit Read Aloud for more information including qualifications, responsibilities and contact information. Thanks to overwhelming support, we no longer need volunteers for the remainder of 2009. We will begin accepting applications for volunteers in Spring 2010.

United We Serve

Becoming a Read Aloud volunteer is one of the many great ways to participate in serving our community. Visit serve.gov for more about sharing the value of service.
