On Friday, June 28, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., the Denver Public Library and Elitch Gardens Theme & Water Park are celebrating Summer of Reading with a book drive and special discounted park admission. Guests who bring a donation of a new children’s book to the Reading Rocket Bookmobile to the entrance of Elitch Gardens will receive $12 off Main Gate admission – Elitch Gardens best discount offered – to enjoy a full day of rides and entertainment on June 28. Families will also be able to sign-up for the Summer of Reading program at the Bookmobile parked near Elitch Gardens’ Front Gate, as well as on Main Street by the Big Wheel.

On Monday, June 17 the Denver Public Library Commission is holding a community meeting to discuss the 2014 Library budget, followed by a convening of the Naming Committee for the new branch library in West Denver. Both meetings are open to the public.
On Thursday, May 30 at 3:30 p.m., Denver Public Library will be celebrating the opening of ideaLAB a digital media studio created just for teens. The lab includes four state-of-the art workstations and equipment that will allow teens to create videos, music, video games, websites and digital artwork. ideaLAB was funded in part with a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services which administers the Library Services and Technology Act.
The Denver Public Library’s Annual Gigantic Used Book Sale will take place Thursday, June 6 through Sunday, June 9, 2013. The outdoor sale is located on the north lawn of the Denver Central Library, 14th Ave. & Broadway, and features over 70,000 items -- including children's books, non-fiction and fiction books, along with CDs, DVDs and audio books -- all at bargain prices starting at under a $1. New items will be added daily.
Denver Public Library is teaming up with Mayor Michael B. Hancock for Summer of Reading (SOR) 2013. As part of the Mayor’s commitment to ensuring that all Denver kids can compete and succeed, he has launched the Summer of Reading Neighborhood Challenge. The branch library who has the greatest increase in SOR registrations between June 3 and June 15 will win an ice cream party with the Mayor. The party will be scheduled at the winning branch sometime during Denver’s Summer of Reading which runs June 3- Aug 10, 2013.
