Songs of Love, Not War

Sunday, March 16, 2 p.m.,Central Library, Schlessman Hall

Flower Power by Bernie Boston, 1967.

Returning to fill our great hall with its signature choral sound, the Denver Gay Men’s Chorus (DGMC) presents Songs of Love, Not War. As a prelude to their next big concert, set for the end of March, they will perform a special concert for the Denver Public Library.

Throughout the month of March, choirs from around the world will participate in the “Songs of Peace” project, www.songofpeace.org, a musical call for peace on the fifth anniversary of the start of the Iraq war. As part of this important project, the Denver Gay Men’s Chorus is proud to present this concert of music celebrating peace and love and remembering those we’ve lost to violence and war.

The Denver Gay Men’s Chorus, led by Artistic Director Ben Riggs, will perform classic peace songs like “Blowin’ in the Wind,” “Find the Cost of Freedom,” “One Tin Soldier,” and “Imagine,” as well as an inspiring new setting of “Dona nobis pacem (Grant us peace)” by composer Joseph Gregorio.

The DGMC is supported by the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District, and The Denver Foundation. For general information, call 303-832-DGMC or go to www.dgmc.org.
