This Winter Fresh City Life invites you to the Denver Central Library to awaken your civic imagination and prepare for this upcoming presidential year by taking part in the first series of our 2008 Season, While You Were Sleeping.

Featuring a few of the nation's most articulate, funny and passionate social thinkers, three smart, sci-fi political thrillers, a button-making workshop and Fresh City Life's first Soup (Making) Kitchen, While You Were Sleeping also includes the launch of our new reading club, Stories That Could Be True. All events are free and open to the public.

WIZARD: Back where I come from we have universities, seats of great learning, where men go to become great thinkers. And when they come out, they think deep thoughts and with no more brains than you have...But! They have one thing you haven't got! A diploma! Therefore, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Universitatus Committeeatum e plurbis unum, I hereby confer upon you the honorary degree of Th.D.

SCARECROW: Th.D.?

WIZARD: Why yes...Yes...That's a...That’s a, Dr. of Thinkology!

Script excerpt from The Wizard of Oz, written by Noel Langley.

With this, our first series of the 2008 year, Fresh City Life proudly introduces Thinkologies, our new initiative to bring together the Public Library and Public/Alternative Media audiences in Denver, San Francisco and New York City. As explained by the great and all knowing Wizard in MGM's The Wizard of Oz, a thinkology is, quite simply, a way of knowing, a way of making sense, a way of thinking about our world and our lives by using both our book and our street smarts. We at Fresh City Life invite you to join with us in putting into practice this idea by participating in one or more of the Thinkologies we plan to explore both inside the Denver Public Library and out, during each of the remainder of our four series.

Coming in April: Wild, Wilde West – featuring our Thinkology on Oscar Wilde’s De Profundis, as well as the relaunch of our popular Knit and Lit Club.
