John Nichols

"Of all the giant slayers now afoot in the great American desert, John Nichols’s
sword is the sharpest."
– Gore Vidal

"At exactly the time when we need it most, John Nichols gives us a special gift, a collection of writings, speeches, poems, and songs from throughout American history, that reminds us that our revulsion to war and empire has a long and noble tradition in this country."
  – Howard Zinn

For this, our first series of this 2008 election year, Fresh City Life invited John Nichols, a pioneering political columnist, blogger and newspaperman, to contribute some of his ideas on civic responsibility. His posts have been circulated internationally, quoted in numerous books and mentioned in debates on the floor of Congress. Nichols writes about politics for The Nation as its Washington correspondent. He also is a contributing writer for The Progressive and In These Times and the associate editor of the Capital Times, the daily newspaper in Madison, Wisconsin, as well as the author of The Genius of Impeachment: The Founders' Cure for Royalism (The New Press), Jews for Buchanan: Did You Hear the One About the Theft of the American Presidency? (The New Press) and Dick: The Man Who is President (The New Press). To read more of John Nichols’ writing go to www.thenation.com/directory/bios/john_nichols.
