Blueberry Pudding and Frybread
Saturday, May 3, 10:30 a.m. - 12 noon
Central Library, Level B2 Conference Center
When Rosalie Tallbull was a little girl growing up on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in Lame Deer, Montana, she, like most little girls in this rural part of western America, learned how to make Wojapi, a pudding made of dried blueberries and Frybread, a crispy, sweet pancake, sometimes covered in powdered sugar. Traditionally made in large batches for important celebrations, Rosalie will demonstrate the steps of how to make this classic Native American dessert. Recipes and samples included. |

Pioneer Foods From the Santa Fe Trail
Saturday, May 10, 10:30 a.m. - 12 noon
Central Library, Level B2 Conference Center
Holly Arnold Kinney, sole owner of the historic The Fort Restaurant in Morrison, Colorado and the daughter of acclaimed restaurateur Sam Arnold, will demonstrate how to make dishes from The Fort's original menu including buffalo tongue and bone marrow. Considered a Western American gourmet delicacy in the 19th century, buffalo was considered to be holy meat by Native Americans, who utilized every possible part of the buffalo in their everyday lives. In addition to these foods made from buffalo, Holly will also make the Fort's acclaimed guacamole. Recipes and samples included. |

Denver's Birthday Chuckwagon
Saturday, May 24, 10:30 a.m. - 12 noon
Central Library, Level B2 Conference Center
Help us blow out a lot of candles to mark the 150th anniversary of the founding of Denver City Town Company (November 22, 1858). Okay, we're a few months off, but we’re gonna have a party anyway. Chef Joseph Abeyta will rustle up a ranch classic: Cowboy Beans with Spicy Sausage and Cornbread. Recipes and samples included. We'll top it all off with cupcakes provided by Emma Rose Bakery and The Shoppe. This event will wrap up just as country musician George Inai presents a set of his finest music. |
