Review

So I don’t usually read horror, but this book had been sitting on my bookshelf for about six years, since some friends of mine from grad school recommended it to me. I finally got around to reading it and was not disappointed. As I started the first story, I had a momentary panic at the horror elements. Would I manage to finish fifteen stories that contained those kinds of horrific details?. But by the third story, Joe Hill had won me over. That third story, “Pop Art,” was so beautiful and heartbreaking that I had to pause there so I could savor the taste of it a while longer before moving onto the next. None of the rest of the stories moved me quite as much, but I could appreciate the strength of the writing. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes short stories or horror.
