Ellis is finishing her sophomore year, and everything is uncertain. Her dad has been in a coma since a construction accident 2 years ago. Her mom is present physically, but not emotionally. Her friends seem to be drifting away and not getting her. Her mom thinks it might be time to release her father from the machines keeping him alive. Ellis' emotions are tumbling. After a disastrous night at a party with her friend Abby, Ellis turns to an old friend for comfort and finds that she doesn't really know why their friendship ended in the first place. Taking place over only a few days, this is a good portrait of grief, letting go, and friendship.
