Review

Young Adult Dystopian fiction has been my genre of choice for the past several months, and this title was recommended to me by one of my coworkers.  I requested the large print version because there were no holds on it, so I got it pretty quickly!

The beginning of the book was slow for me--I wasn't tremendously invested in the main character and didn't understand what was going on in the story.  As I started meeting more characters and more of the plot was revealed, I got more interested and involved.  It was not until I got about half-way into the story that I became invested in the characters and it moved more quickly.

Something that separates this book from others in the genre is that it has to do with alien invasion as opposed to humanity simply turning on itself.  I appreciated this take, as it gave the genre a different feel.  The book also jumps from one character's perspective to another's, and I found myself looking forward to the next shift.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in alien invasion, dystopian stories, and/or adventure.  I did not enjoy the book as much as I did the Divergent or Maze Runner series, but it was an very readable story.
