Review

The Princess continues her innocent and weirdly terrifying adventures in this second installment of The Princess and Mr. Whiffle, only this time she’s got her baby brother to take care of. We get a few hints about her mysteriously absent parents and more carnage courtesy of the Princess. There’s some good dramatic tension when the Princess has to choose between her beloved Mr. Whiffle and her less-beloved, annoying little brother (Ending the Second). Then comes the twist, of course. This sequel was not as surprising and horrifyingly hilarious as The Thing Beneath the Bed, since you’re already familiar with the multiple endings schtick (and somehow the lessening of the mystery via more world-building also lessens the creepiness factor), but the character is still fabulous and the developing relationship between these two very unusual siblings is adorable.
