This biography of writer/performer/cultural phenomenon Stephen Colbert is strictly for beginners. Most Colbert fans will already be familiar with the trajectory of Colbert's career (Second City, t.v. and film collaborations with Amy Sedaris and Paul Dinello, the Daily Show and Colbert Report), but those who are mildly curious might find some satisfaction here. Those looking for salacious detail will be disappointed. Personally, I find it refreshing to find that, unlike so many comedians and performers, Colbert seems to be a genuinely nice guy with an impressive commitment to charitable works in addition to his busy career. In this, as in so many other things, he confounds stereotypes and breaks new ground.
