by Nick Flynn
Review
In his memoir, Nick Flynn, working in a Boston homeless shelter, is reunited with his unstable, alcoholic father, now an occupant. Barely in control of his own life, Nick sees how dangerously close he walks to following in his father's footsteps, which is the last thing he ever wanted to do. As a poet, Flynn writes in beautiful prose that draws out both the painful relationship of an estranged father and son as well as the easily crossed line into homelessness.
