Review

This is one man's tragic story of being locked in an underground prison in the desert of Morocco for twenty years. Based on facts and read against the background of today's headlines, it's a disturbing reflection of our tragic, current situation. Winner of the 2004 International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award: "All of us on the jury recognize that this is a book of another order, covering the widest range of human potential for good, evil and redemption. It reiterates, as only once in a while a book does, the true purpose of literature."
