Blue Pills is a sentimental, honest, and endearing memoir told in the form of a graphic novel. Author Frederik Peeters depicts his experience falling in love with Cati. Cati is HIV positive and so is her three-year-old son. Blue Pills is sweet, but sometimes prone to the mildly philosophical and boring existential ramblings of Peeters. These self-aware monologues don't serve the story very well, but do give Peeters a chance to get more creative with the art, which isn't as interesting in Blue Pills as it is in his other graphic novels.
