by Aldous Huxley

Review

This book may change the way you look at the world around you.

Brave New World is a frequently challenged and ban book. I chose to read it because its content is challenging to the reader. It is considered a Classic written in 1931 because of its staying power to influence. I found it a challenging but worthwhile read.

“Community, Identity, Stability” is the motto of the utopian World State. Babies are born in labs where every element of their lives is controlled and conditioned to make them ideal for their lives as Workers. There are no mothers and fathers instead “everyone belongs to everyone else.” The drug Soma is used to control any excess of emotion. Bernard Marx feels something is missing from his life and wonders if there can be more in his relationship with a young woman.
