Review

Even though my friend's two-year-old is obviously gifted, I was amazed to see that somehow this tyke was completely potty-trained before she was two, due to the methods outlined in this book.  Dr. Jill Lekovic's theory of early potty training (around 9 months) is based on medical evidence and common sense.  She compares the accepted notion of waiting until the child is "ready" against how it's done in other cultures.  Her approach is to be matter-of-fact about the whole  thing, with no rewards, or cajoling.  There's a chapter on the history of potty training, a section for parents of special needs babies, and an explanation of why your child won't by psychologically scarred by the whole thing.
