Don't let the grasses win! Between the money we spend watering and caring for our lawns and the amount of corn we consume (yes, corn is indeed a grass and corn products are in nearly every processed food on the market), you could say that we are slaves doing grasses' evil bidding. Why waste resources and time on something so utterly useless? In these hard economic times, it also makes perfect sense to raise some of our own food. This book has a few interesting articles and case studies of people who took the plunge and ripped up their whole front lawn to grow food. Come spring, you can bet I'll be out there in my front yard with the sod ripper, expanding my organic vegetable garden.
