Review

This was by far one of the best teen books I read last year. It turns out that I have great taste, as it was also recently named as a Michael L. Printz honor book! Plus, the book is set in my hometown - Omaha, Nebraska. Believe me, there are not many books that feature the town I grew up in during the time I grew up there (the Rockin' 80s). Oh, the nostalgia. This book met with a lot of controversy when a scheduled author visit by Rainbow Rowell was canceled by a group of influential parents (see article) in a Minnesota school district. It's a sweet love story featuring a relationship that attempts to survive despite not-so-rosy circumstances. Even I, who don't normally go in for anything more than a hint of romance, found it charming.
