Review

I picked up Follow Follow because it was recommended as one of the best and brightest of 2013 by Denver Public Library’s librarians. It is the second in a series of “Reverso” poems, a poem form created by author, Marilyn Singer, where a poem (usually about a fairy tale) is presented first forward, and then the words reversed to create an entirely new poem, often showing the other side of the story. It’s a great concept to introduce reluctant readers to poetry, and creates an interesting grammatical puzzle where you get to track how the placement of the punctuation and the words on the page change the meaning entirely. I highly recommend this book, and its predecessor, “Mirror, Mirror” to children of all ages.
