Review

A wonderful collection of cartoons from the web comic of the same name. Open this book to the first strip and you will find a perfect sample of Beaton's work: it is literary, irreverent, and--above all--funny. Topics range from Jane Eyre to Robinson Crusoe and from Sherlock Holmes to Shakespeare. Within a few pages, Beaton will take you to the French Revolution and then introduce you to "Sexy Batman" and the "1980's Power Businesswoman." There is an entire series of strips that consists of interpretations of old Nancy Drew book covers. So good; I couldn't put it down.

Love it! Very funny and clever. There's a great interview of her on NPR.

Thank you both for the links! Great interview.
