Review

Harry Potter and his friends return for their second year of school at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in this second novel in J.K. Rowling's beloved series.  Before they even arrive, Ron and Harry go on an exciting (and illegal) adventure, which sets the stage for the events in the remainder of the story.  Voldemort makes a more efficacious return, and Harry, once more, saves the day.

Rowling paints clear images of her characters--so much so, that some muggles I know resemble the characters she has created.  Apart from the magical world in which they reside, these characters are ones the reader knows from everyday life.  This is one of the many reasons why Rowling has been so successful, in my opinion--her characters are accessible, and readers love that!

The audiobook is dramatically read by Jim Dale, whose voices and character acting help the words to jump off of the page in a new and different way than one might imagine while reading the book traditionally.

Harry and his friends still have a good many things to learn about themselves and the world, but there is no doubt that they have the charisma and the chutzpah to achieve anything, no matter what happens!
