by Julie Orringer
Review
This collection of short stories is written with such accuracy and poignancy that you can't help but empathize with the characters. In a few short pages, Orringer is capable of breathing life in these people with such skill that you end up wondering if you have met one of them. The great part is that you probably have. This being said, these stories of adolescence and change are neither comfortable, nor easy. But the squeamish feeling of remembrance and complicity is worth the peek into other people's lives.
