Review

1910, England on a snowy night Ursula Todd is born and dies before taking her first breath. Ursula is born on a snowy night in 1910 England and she lives. As Ursula grows up, she also dies repeatedly in a variety of ways. She lives again and again trying to apply vague memories of former lives until she gets it right. But can she change the coming tide of World War II?

I put down this book multiple times, always to pick it up again. The author paints a realistic and detailed historical portrait of European life from 1910 onwards. The reader is Ursula. Her pain is our pain. “Life after Life” is an emotional read with a great depth of characters and historical setting.
