A tragic yet breathtaking story describing the actual experiences of Ishmael Beah, who at the age of 12, fought rebels in Sierra Leone's civil war. Despite witnessing and committing horrifying atrocities, he was able to return to a stable life with the help of caring people in Africa and the United States.
