Based on a true story, Lucky Ducklings pays tribute McCloskey’s Make Way for Ducklings with charming illustrations and energetic rhythmic text. One sunny day Mama Duck and her five ducklings leave the park for a walk but quickly find danger in the form of a storm drain. Mama Duck crosses the drain with no problem but the babies aren't so lucky. First Pippin falls through the grate, then Bippin, Tippin, Dippin, and last of all Little Joe. Luckily someone saw what happened and called the fire department for help.  Young readers will be relieved after all five ducklings are rescued Mama Duck leads them back to the safety of the park.
