In Regency England, Lady Pippa is about to marry her safe but boring duke. He’s a catch, but she’s not. She’s more interested in her science, dogs, and books.  She doesn’t care about the latest fashion or passion. For purely scientific reasons, she is interested in what might happen on her wedding night and she needs a scoundrel  to school her in all she needs to know beforehand.  Her brother-in-law is one of the owners of a notorious gaming hell. Pippa thinks Cross, another owner who has a reputation as a ladies man, might be just who she needs.  His response to her proposition was not what she expected. He is not what she expected. Will she marry her duke after all? This is the second book of four companion romances that explore the same gaming hell where the four main male and female characters interact. You don’t have to read the other books to enjoy this one. The historical details are spot on and there is a steamy scene or two for true romance aficionados. I don’t usually read romances, but the story held my interest. It’s naughty Jane Austen if you’re in the mood.
