Review

This was one of those weird instances where I saw the movie before reading the book but as soon as I finished the movie, I put myself on hold for the book. The books is written as a collection of letters that Charlie sends to a never named "Friend". These letters tell of his day to day encounters as he navigates high school as a freshman. These letters follow him through first dates, mix tapes, family dramas, new friends, a world filled with sex, drugs, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a deeply affecting coming-of-age story that will spirit you back to those wild and poignant roller-coaster days known as growing up. I would suggest to book for ages 13-99. I feel like no matter what stage of life you are in and we have all felt like that wallflower and just need to find someone else who understands the rhythm of the song.
