This was lovely to listen to. Advice, not just for those facing hardship, but for anyone. It’s a love letter to life and writing. And gleaned throughout is a bit of an autobiography of a wondrous writer who also happens to be a cancer survivor. There has been some talk about the privilege of her position and therefore advice, but her suggestions still stand. The principles she talks about can be applied in any context. Choose to accept sorrow. Choose to make things beautiful. This book doesn’t have the impressive pyrotechnics of her fiction work, but the very simplicity of her instructions is what makes them hit home. There is a beautiful soul in these pages.
